Our purpose and intention is to honor the men and women who lost their lives in the attacks on September 11, 2001 through a meaningful set of exercise and time with our community.
OpenWater welcomes new participants into the community through Active Mentorship, a six-month long experience designed to strengthen resilience, build peer‑driven leadership, and cultivate long‑term wellbeing for first responders, military personnel, and their families. Each June, selected participants begin their journey with an intensive week‑long performance camp focused on watercraft skills, recovery techniques, and nutrition practices that expand personal capacity. This foundation prepares them for a demanding 33‑mile individual channel crossing paddle from Catalina Island to Huntington Beach. Watch our 2025 video to see the impact of this epic program.
